There’s something about sibling bands that have a special sound. Whether it’s the shared DNA or the obvious talent that runs in the family, BAILEN is no exception to special sibling bands. A pair of twins and their younger sister make up the indie (with hints of modern folk and classic rock) trio. Raised by their classically trained parents, these siblings had their fair share of exposure to a diverse record collection, inspiring them to create their own sound.

If you couldn’t tell by the poor use of parentheses above, this band doesn’t really fall into a specific genre. “Something Tells Me” has some of the modern folk sounds of Johnny Swim or Joseph (another sibling band) but also contains elements of a huge bridge and heavy electric guitar and drums that could be classified as classic rock sounding. Nonetheless, the song is a comforting statement to its listener, making them feel like the song is about them. The repetition of the catchy chorus “Something tells me I could fall in love with you,” make it personal for the listener.

BAILEN’s debut album, Thrilled to Be Here, is truly indicative of all the different elements this trio can bring. It features diverse sounding tracks, chilling three part harmonies, and lyrical mastery. Give it a listen and let us know what you think on our Instagram, @musicianstipjar!
